Rescue Verio: The previous lists died thanks to a major screwup by our ISP Verio, formerly Best.com.
(They killed their mailing list service without any notice because of a hardware failure; note that it's still advertised on their web site.)
If you're looking for an ISP, we don't recommend them these days!

2 Rescue Muni Endorsees Win, 2 in Runoff

Chron: Citizen Revolt Means Better Service
The Chronicle published an editorial citing last year's "citizen revolt," led by Rescue Muni, SPUR, and EOC,
as a main reason for recent improvements in Muni. Thank you, members and volunteers!

This doesn't mean that we can pack up and go home, however. Muni only got a B-minus this year.

San Franciscans: Muni Getting (Slightly) Better
The Chamber of Commerce has published the results of a poll showing that San Franciscans
are less dissatisfied with Muni than in previous years.
Read the Examiner article, or the full Chamber report (in pdf).
Also, the city's annual opinion poll shows that people are happier with Muni than before (but still not satisfied).
Reliability: 42% poor or very poor, 35% fair, 23% good or very good.
But traffic and pedestrian safety is a bigger problem than before.

A "Big Dig" for San Francisco?
Staff of the SF County Transportation Authority have proposed a network of underground tollways
for San Francisco, comparable to Boston's "Big Dig" Central Artery/Tunnel project,
whose director was just fired for billions of dollars in cost overruns.
Rescue Muni would prefer more transit service.

Take Muni to the Ballpark
The Railway will be running special service to Pac Bell Park for all Giants games.
Beat the traffic! Read the Chron and Ex reports on how to get to the park.
Don't have tickets? Buy them from the Giants or on eBay.

MTC: $3B for Muni, Freeways
The MTC has proposed a long list of transportation projects ($3B plus) to the Governor,
including Muni's half-gigabuck Central Subway, Caltrain improvements, a regional express bus network,
and beaucoup de freeways. SF's Geary light rail plan (proposed in SFCTA 4-Corridor plan) is excluded.

Muni: $405M Budget in FY 2001
Muni has released a proposed budget of $405 million for FY 2001. No fare increases, more SOMA service.
Most of the ~$20M in new funding comes from increased parking and tax revenue projections.

F-Line Extension Opens!
Service on the F-Line (Market and Wharves) began to Fisherman's Wharf Saturday, March 4.
The Market Street Railway (www.streetcar.org) helped support this event.

Service runs from 17/Market to Jones/Beach, all day, every day.
Frequency (generally 10 minutes) and fares ($1) are the same as on the old F-Line.
The old 32-Embarcadero line was replaced by this new service.

MTA Board Inaugurated
The Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors were inaugurated on March 1,
as required by last fall's Proposition E. Read the Chron and Ex reports and our detailed discussion.
