MTA: “No major problems” with new schedule
Yesterday’s Chronicle reported that the first day of service with Muni’s new schedule and route patterns went largely smoothly, with the MTA claiming that service was running smoothly, at least on Saturday. And Mayor Newsom (or his staff) submitted an item on it to Sunday’s Examiner. SFist also covered this. Any word on how it has been on the first commute day with the new schedule?
no major problems if you were not riding. one could check the Daillies to see that many “8” were AWOL Mon PM, as well as the usual 14’s 49 AWOLs And Mon PM FIVE KTs not out! so with five missing, what kind of headway actually happened? Cheerleading for service cuts which DO NOT address AWOLs does not help anyone.
I’ve heard many gloomy reports, such as a packed 6 during rush. Personally, I was unable to board a 71 during rush and the N-Judah was having a 30 minute headway after 9am. I ended up taking 33+Bart to get downtown, which was not crowded. More runs are required and enforcement of head ways. It seems as though there is far less capacity on the 6, 71, N.
Driver AWOLs are still way too high.
Weren’t they supposed to add capacity on the 6 to make up for the cut 7?
