#Hastag express, 83X, coming this June
The proposed 83X line will provide limited stop, rush hour service to 4th and King, Division and Townsend, and 9th and Market. The SFMTA estimates the the new line will cost $300k a year, with a ridership of 400k.
83X TO Caltrain, 9th & Market, etc – but FROM WHERE?
It should also speed the trip of reverse commuters who can get off the Metro at Civic Center.
Express service to/from Caltrain? what’s not to like? But, the rumor on another site is that the new mid Market tenant demanded same as a move in condition. Fine, so is that how we prioritize Muni upgrades? More interesting question, will 83X get exclusive transit lanes, and if so will they be for only this route?
Seems like a good idea but I think it should go on 6th st instead of 8th. Say the 83 ran 3 blocks on Market, it’d pick up lots more passengers for the trip to Caltrain. If it ran on Market for more than a block, it could then stop on Market between 8th and 7th in front of Civic Center Plaza. The 83 could also stop on Market between 7th and 6th using the 5 Fulton bus shelter. 2 other possible stops are one on 6th and Harrison(sharing the 14x stop) and one on 9th and Folsom.
