In response to SFMTA’s budget deficit and threatened service cuts and fare hikes, the Sierra Club San Francisco Group has some policy recommendations. Below is their letter by our board member, Howard Strassner. (Note: this is not Rescue Muni policy, though we are long-time proponents of expanded rapid bus service.)
This is your last chance to let us know what you think about the December 5th service changes by filling out our survey! The last day to submit a survey will be January 2nd, after which we will crunch the numbers and find out if you, the rider, think these changes have been satisfactory, or less than satisfactory.
The SF Appeal reports inbound delays of 20 minutes or more on the Market Street subway. As usual the cause is problems with the train control system (which caused meltdowns way back in 1998). Check NextMuni before you ride!

Many sources are reporting that the entire Muni Metro is out of service due to a section of collapsed overhead wire near the inbound section of Van Ness station. Service is scheduled to resume at 5:30am, according to Justin True speaking on CBS5. Check here, as well as our Twitter stream for updates as we find out more.
