Alert: Muni Metro shut down until 5:30am tomorrow

Many sources are reporting that the entire Muni Metro is out of service due to a section of collapsed overhead wire near the inbound section of Van Ness station. Service is scheduled to resume at 5:30am, according to Justin True speaking on CBS5. Check here, as well as our Twitter stream for updates as we find out more.

MTA: “No major problems” with new schedule

SFMTAYesterday’s Chronicle reported that the first day of service with Muni’s new schedule and route patterns went largely smoothly, with the MTA claiming that service was running smoothly, at least on Saturday. And Mayor Newsom (or his staff) submitted an item on it to Sunday’s Examiner. SFist also covered this. Any word on how it has been on the first commute day with the new schedule?

Muni safety/crime hearing TODAY, 11 am

Think SafetySorry for the late notice: Supervisor Dufty has called a hearing on MTA safety including recent spikes in crime, SFPD patrols of the buses and streetcars, and more, at 11 am at City Hall (room 250) today. Details are at Muni Diaries, SF Gate and Streetsblog.
