Chron on Prop H: “The most dangerous measure on the ballot”

October 22nd, 2007

Don’t even think of parking hereJohn Diaz of the Chronicle slams Prop H in Sunday’s edition and points out the dealing in bad faith that has led to No on A mailers being sent to voters despite a supposed deal between proponents of better Muni service and opponents of San Francisco’s transit-first policy, led by Republican billionaire Don Fisher.

If you agree with us that SF does not need massive increases in auto traffic, vote NO on H, and get involved! The campaign needs your help in the last two weeks before the election.

APTA: Mass Transit Reduces Greenhouse Gases

October 16th, 2007

Yes on AMore evidence that Proposition A makes sense to clean the air: a study by SAIC for the American Public Transit Association has found that taking mass transit can be ten times more effective than other common activities (e.g. installing compact fluorescent bulbs) to reduce an individual’s carbon footprint.

Better Muni service is key to making this happen in SF. Get involved now with Yes on A and No on H!

Update: Supervisors Peskin and Elsbernd urge a yes on A vote in today’s Chronicle.

General Meeting Monday, October 1, 7 pm

September 28th, 2007

Our next General Meeting will be on Monday, October 1, at 7 pm at SPUR (312 Sutter at Grant, 5th Floor). Our guest speakers will be Mayor Gavin Newsom and Dave Snyder from SPUR and the Yes on A / No on H (Transit not Traffic) campaign.

The Rescue Muni Board has recommended an endorsement of Mayor Newsom for re-election. Come with your tough questions for the Mayor on transit! Also the board has recommended a Yes vote on Propositions A (Muni Reform) and C (Public Hearings on Ballot Measures), and a No vote on Proposition H (Parking for Downtown). We will review and vote on these proposals.

Also we will vote on proposed new Bylaws for Rescue Muni, and discuss the proposed Washington Square extension to the Central Subway project.

Refreshments will be served. See you there!

Update: All endorsements and the bylaws were approved by the members. Mayor Newsom also made it clear that he has joined us in opposition to Prop H, in addition to support for Prop A. Thank you to all who attended!
